PromoDrawer™

Languages

Writing your cards in each language your store sells in, and the words the drawer translates for you.

A drawer has two kinds of words: yours, the headings, buttons and messages you write on each card, and the drawer’s own, like the arrows’ labels, “Sold out” and the countdown’s units. The drawer’s own words come translated on every plan. Translating yours is on Pro.

The drawer’s own words

Built in for 13 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Swedish, Danish and Polish. The drawer shows them in the language of the page the shopper is on, and falls back to English for any other.

Button words you leave as they come are the drawer’s own too: Copy code, Apply code, Copied!, Add to cart, and the signup’s Subscribe, its field labels, its agreement line and its thank-you. Each field shows the word as a placeholder. Type your own and yours shows instead, in every language.

Your card text

A drawer’s Translations tab lists your store’s published languages, with how many cards each one has done. Pick a language to write each card’s words in it: the highlight, heading, subheading, body and button, plus the drawer’s own button label and title.

  • Your default-language words sit in each field as a placeholder, so you can see what you’re translating.
  • Leave a field empty and shoppers in that language see your default words there. A card never shows blank.
  • The preview switches to the language you’re writing in.

The first time you use translations, the app asks for permission to read your store’s languages. That’s the only thing it’s used for.

On your storefront

A shopper browsing your French store sees your French words, laid over your defaults wherever you’ve written them. Every link on a card keeps the shopper’s language, so a button to /collections/summer takes a French shopper to /fr/collections/summer.

Targeting by URL works across languages too: a rule for /collections/summer also matches its language versions. See Targeting and scheduling.

If you change plans

Your translations are kept on every plan. On Basic or Free they stop reaching the storefront, and shoppers see your default words; upgrade to Pro again and they’re back as you left them.
